Our Opportunity
Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex Perth
As part of Fortescue’s continued growth and commitment to operational excellence, we are seeking an Advanced Water Well Drilling Offsider to join our dynamic team. This role plays a vital part in supporting our drilling operations, contributing to Fortescue’s vision of being the safest, lowest-cost, and most profitable iron ore producer. Working in a highly collaborative and safety-focused environment, you’ll assist in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our drilling activities while upholding the highest standards of safety and performance across site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate drill rig support (mobile plant) equipment in accordance with the manufacture’s (OEM) specifications and Fortescue’s procedures.
- Identify when consumables and supplies are to be ordered to ensure the continuous operation of the rig.
- Attend and actively participate in toolbox & safety meetings to ensure work safe compliance and identify deficiencies and action plans.
- Maintain & operate vehicles, tools and equipment to company standard to ensure the continuous operation of the rig.
- Deliver general tasks by keeping drilling area clean and tidy to ensure hazards are identified /mitigated & follow all drilling safe work instruction (SWI).
- Participate in water well drilling industry pathway training.
- Conduct manual labour duties in an outdoor environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a current MC licence.
- Hold a current LF high risk work licence.
- First Aid certification
- Operate and Maintain a Four-Wheel Drive Vehicle
- Cert 2 in Drilling
- DG/CN high risk license
- High level of safety awareness and orientation.
- Ability to work well in a team and unsupervised.
- At least 12 months experience working on Waterwell drill rigs or 2 years in other drilling disciplines.
