Water Quality Compliance Analyst
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday – Friday
Provide a support role to the Water Quality Compliance Specialist in coordinating business wide compliance with health related legislative and formal requirements (including the 12-element framework of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG)) pertaining to drinking water quality management.
Assist the Water Quality Compliance Specialist provide technical support services pertaining to water quality and Department of Health compliance for management of drinking water, wastewater, recreational waters, and non-potable water uses across planning, project delivery, asset management, environmental, governance and operational business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate system support services (which includes training, laboratory liaison, assurance activities, applicable business systems support) to assist key internal stakeholders comply with the 12-element framework of ADWG.
- Produce accurate and sound technical documentation related to drinking water quality management including but not limited to site drinking water quality management plans, quarterly regulator reports and other procedural based documentation as required.
- Manage Water Quality Database – EnviroSys for interpretation of water quality performance and to collect field data to integrate all the water quality data in a single platform.
- Schedule, manage, interpret, and report on water quality data pertaining to Fortescue’s drinking water, wastewater, and recreational compliance monitoring programs.
- Escalate non compliances with compliance monitoring programs and coordinate corrective action to "out of’ spec" results.
- Provision of verbal and written technical advice relating to water quality and Department of Health compliance requirements for water and wastewater systems to internal customers
- Understanding of federal, state, and local legislative requirements relating to water and wastewater management
- Knowledge of the element framework of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and its application Awareness of relevant Australian Standards, Guidance Documentation, relevant to water quality management
- Understanding of the key elements of water quality and application to different water systems
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience working within a water quality, environmental compliance or similar role
- Relevant engineering or science related bachelor’s degree (preferably in an environmental, chemical or water related discipline with strong focus on water quality)
- Water quality data management, analysis, and interpretation
- Ability to write sound technical documents including reports, procedures, and management plans.
Capable of providing verbal and written advice to technical and non-technical personnel - Excellent stakeholder engagement and work coordination skills with the ability to organise, prioritise and undertake a wide range of tasks.
- Previous experience with EnviroSys or a similar database is desirable.
- Previous experience working within the mining industry desirable but not essential.
