Our Opportunity
Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO Ex Perth
This is a key operational leadership role offering the opportunity to contribute directly to Fortescue’s transformation into a global green energy and resources company. The Water Well Driller is responsible for operating and supervising Foremost DR24HD drill rigs to deliver high-quality water bore construction that supports the site’s operational and environmental needs. The main aim of the position is to safely and efficiently achieve drilling targets while upholding the highest standards of safety, environmental care, and cultural heritage protection. This role provides the chance to lead by example, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and play a vital part in the sustainable success of Fortescue’s Cloudbreak operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate drill rig and support (mobile plant) equipment in accordance with the manufacture’s (OEM) specifications and Fortescue’s procedures
- Drill and construct water bores as per scope of work
- Identify when consumables and supplies are to be ordered to ensure the continuous operation of the rig
- Demonstrate behaviour that aligns with Fortescue values
- Comply with Zero Harm principles on a daily basis
- Meet daily operational targets
- Maintain assets to operational capacity
- Constantly strive to increase process efficiency
- Effectively supervise drill crews
Qualifications and Experience
- WA MC Driver's Licence - or willing to attain within 3 months of employment
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- RIIVEH305F Operate and maintain a four-wheel drive vehicle
- Work Safe WA High Risk work Licence - FL, DG, CN
- Extensive Foremost DR24HD experience or similar
- Communication/interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Class 1 or 2 Waterwell Driller’s Licence – RA or RM endorsement
- Certificate III in Drilling Operations
- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022
- Time management skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Ability to lead multiple teams
