Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

 

Roster: 14D/14R - FIFO ex Perth

 

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Civil Maintenance Float Operator to join our Rail Infrastructure Department. In this key role, you will be responsible for supporting the transport of earthmoving and rail maintenance machinery across the Fortescue rail network. You will ensure safe loading/unloading, delivery of machinery, and adherence to load restraint and mass management regulations.

This role requires a high level of independence and the ability to work remotely, often alone, while maintaining communication with supervisors and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load, unload, and deliver machinery across the Fortescue rail network.
  • Ensure proper load restraint practices and compliance with mass management regulations, ensuring correct weight distribution.
  • Follow the chain of responsibility protocols.
  • Manage fatigue in accordance with HVA and Fortescue policies.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Work remotely and mostly alone, requiring self-sufficiency and initiative.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years of operational experience driving road ranger prime movers across various off-road terrains.
  • Proven experience in float work and delivering oversized equipment.
  • Experience working in the Mining/Heavy Haul Industry, ideally in a FIFO/camp environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including fatigue management and chain of responsibility.
  • Familiar with load restraint techniques and mass management/weight distribution for correct loading.
