Work Location: Hedland Operations – on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people

 

Roster Options:

Join Fortescue and play a key role in delivering critical electrical projects across our world-class port facilities in Hedland, WA. We’re looking for a motivated Electrical Project Planner who can bring both technical expertise and strong project controls capability to ensure our projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

 

From fixed plant upgrades and power distribution systems to major capital works, you’ll be at the forefront of planning and cost management for projects that keep our operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with engineering, maintenance, construction, contractors, and operations teams to align planning with production schedules
  • Supporting shutdown planning for electrical works across fixed plant, conveyors, substations, and critical infrastructure
  • Preparing, monitoring, and managing project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking for electrical and capital works
  • Reporting on expenditure to ensure projects stay aligned with targets and budgets
  • Assisting the Engineering Execution team with contractor bid reviews, scope alignment, and cost benchmarking

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in project planning and cost control within mining, heavy industry, or large infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency with project control systems (SAP, MS Project or similar)
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems in mining (substations, HV/LV distribution, fixed plant, conveyors, processing plants)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
