Our Opportunity

Work Location: Port Hedland – Rolling Stock Maintenance

 

Roster: 7D7N/14R FIFO ex Perth

 

Reporting to the Rolling Stock Maintenance Wheel Shop Supervisor, the Electrical role will be responsible for operating equipment for production requirements and preventative/breakdown maintenance of our wheel shop fixed plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of fixed plant equipment including a portal lathe CNC to machine wheelsets and wheel/axle lathe and press to produce new wheelsets which are required for our daily ore car maintenance requirements.
  • Ensuring the successful execution of weekly planned preventative maintenance and statutory requirements as per work management.
  • Respond to breakdowns of equipment, ensuring equipment is repaired to a high standard aiming for long-term reliability.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities within the workshop and assist with implementation of project improvements.  
  • Assist supervisor and engineering team in completing root cause analysis on breakdowns to put systems in place to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Contribute to a strong safety-conscious culture within all operation and maintenance activities onsite.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Electrical Trade Qualified
  • Electrical instrumentation/PLC experience (Desirable)
  • Previous experience within a fixed plant maintenance and operation role
  • Demonstrate a strong analytical ability for technical electrical/mechanical systems and fault finding
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a small team of other mechanical and electrical trades
  • Proficient in SAP, Fiori, BMS & Microsoft Office Suite
  • Thorough understanding of Fortescue Safety Systems
