Our Opportunity

Location: Hedland Operations – Port Hedland (on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people)


Roster: 4 days on / 3 days off – Residential in Port Hedland or FIFO ex Perth


Join Fortescue’s Port Mechanical team and play a hands-on role in keeping our operations running safely and reliably. Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, this shift-based role is key to ensuring the performance of our fixed plant assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep our operations moving with effective plant maintenance
  • Spot and action plant defects by raising notifications and repairs
  • Carry out inspections across online plant areas – conveyors, train unloaders, balance machines & sample stations
  • Support dust suppression systems and ensure reliability across site

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mechanical Fitter Trade qualification (essential)
  • Fixed plant maintenance experience – conveyor expertise highly regarded
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence with SAP, Microsoft Project, and maintenance systems
  • Ability to develop risk assessments (CRAW, JHA, SWMS, etc.)
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and organisational skills
