Our Opportunity

Work Location: Hedland – Port- FIFO ex Perth or residentially based in Port Hedland


Roster: 8 Days / 6 Off, 7 Nights / 7 Off

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, this shift-based position plays a key role in supporting our Port Mechanical Maintenance team. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of fixed plant mechanical maintenance, ensuring the reliable operation of Fortescue’s Port facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out effective maintenance of all running plant equipment
  • Raise work notifications and repairs through SAP
  • Respond to and investigate fixed plant breakdowns
  • Conduct plant area inspections, including sample stations, balance machines, conveyors, and train unloaders
  • Apply hydraulic diagnostic and repair expertise to ensure plant reliability

Qualifications and Experience

  • Trade or engineering qualification (essential)
  • Previous experience in fixed plant maintenance within the mining or heavy industry sector
  • Proven conveyor maintenance and hydraulic system knowledge
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Competent user of computerised maintenance systems (SAP and Microsoft Project)
  • Ability to prepare high-quality risk assessments, CRAWs, JHAs, and SWMS
  • Strong time management, organisational skills, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and Fortescue’s zero harm principles
