Hedland Services Superintendent
Our Opportunity
Location: Fortescue Port Operations, Port Hedland. Fortescue’s Port Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra People.
Roster: 4 days on / 3 days off | Residential (Port Hedland) preferred – FIFO from Perth considered
As the leader of our Port Services & Maintenance team, you’ll oversee essential services across Fortescue’s Port Hedland operations — including Light and heavy vehicle Maintenance, electrical and fuel distribution, waste management, industrial cleaning, fire systems, water production, and wastewater treatment. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving safe, reliable, and efficient operations across our non-process infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a culture of safety, leading by example and ensuring alignment with Fortescue’s values and policies.
- Manage minor NPI capital projects and play an active role in major capital projects that support new infrastructure and operational improvements.
- Oversee contractor and vendor performance, ensuring strong relationships and accountability.
- Lead budget management activities, including forecasting, tracking, and cost approvals.
- Partner closely with operations and other stakeholder groups to achieve Fortescue’s objectives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for infrastructure services escalations and resolution management.
- Drive recruitment and workforce planning for NPI roles.
- Provide coaching and development opportunities to the Port Services leadership team to support growth and succession planning.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III Trade Certificate and/or relevant Degree Qualification.
- Demonstrated experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams within a mining or port operations environment.
- Working knowledge of SAP maintenance planning systems and work management processes.
- Proven safety leadership and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of risk, contractor, and change management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams and stakeholders.
