Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: Full-time 8D/6R – FIFO Ex Perth
The role of the mechanical engineer is to provide technical support using initiatives and applying engineering techniques, data analysis, designs, improvement projects and defect elimination for the operational Ore Processing Facility. You will be responsible for the operational and maintenance of mechanical and process plant including related assets. 

Key Responsibilities


  • Creating and evaluating functional reports, and project information to determine the roles and responsibilities of employees and work units, as well as to identify areas of redundancy.
  • Creating standards and procedures for modification, QC, testing and installations that adhere to engineering principles and safety regulations
  • This role involves ensuring that all mechanical systems and processes are efficiently integrated and maintained for optimal asset performance.
  • Liaison with relevant departments to provide technical solutions
  • Manage the development and execution of operational and capital projects
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis for plant downtime events
  • Ensure correct application of Health & Safety standards including Change Management
  • Monitor quality assurance of critical processes
  • Complete routine inspections as required to ensure optimal operating performance is maintained
  • Coordinating and directing maintenance requirements for assets including maintenance schedules

Qualifications and Experience


  • At least 3+ years fixed plant experience in an engineering and/or projects role
  • Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining experience in hard rock applications
  • Strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus
  • Excellent problem solving skills and continual improvement focus
  • Knowledge of relevant Mines legislations and regulations
  • Knowledge of computer management systems
  • Great communication skills
  • Planning, organisational, budgeting, scheduling and coordination skills
