Our Opportunity
Location: Port Hedland – Fortescue’s Hedland Operations, on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people
Roster: 8 days on / 6 off / 7 nights on / 7 off – Residential in Port Hedland (FIFO from Perth may be considered)
Play a key role in safety and teamwork at Fortescue
We’re looking for a motivated Permit Coordinator to join our Port Operations team in Port Hedland. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring safety across our site by overseeing isolations, tagging, and permitting—keeping our people and equipment safe, whether during day-to-day operations or large-scale shutdowns.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and inspect work areas to ensure isolations are correctly applied and effective
- Make sure permits align with work requirements and compliance standards
- Design, prepare, and implement permitting and isolation plans for daily operations and shutdowns
- Audit electrical and mechanical isolations to maintain full compliance
- Support operational churns and facilitate isolation reviews
- Guide and support the permit team, sharing knowledge and building capability
- Liaise with shutdown, maintenance, and operations teams to coordinate permit needs
- Assist with night shift coverage during shutdown periods when required
Qualifications and Experience
We’re seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and leads by example.
- A trade qualification (Electrical preferred)
- Hands-on experience with isolations and/or permitting in mining or heavy industry
- Strong attention to detail with solid computer literacy
- Previous exposure to fixed plant operations (advantageous)
- Knowledge of Intellipermit or similar electronic permitting systems (desirable)
- Familiarity with SAP systems (desirable)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple teams
