Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Hedland Operations- Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

 

Roster: 8/6 days (Residential preferred – FIFO considered for the right person)

 

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Planner/Scheduler to join our Rail Operations team.

This role plays a key part in supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operations through effective maintenance planning and scheduling. You’ll be part of a close-knit, supportive team that values collaboration, adaptability, and good humour — the kind of people who get the job done and still enjoy a laugh together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work complies with Fortescue’s safety standards, KPIs, and operational procedures.
  • Scope, plan, and develop schedule maintenance activities to support safe and efficient execution of Rail Maintenance.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, and vendor teams to ensure work priorities are clearly defined and achievable.
  • Identify and analyse opportunities for improvement in process, reliability, and scheduling efficiency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with a calm, constructive approach under pressure.
  • Proficiency in SAP CMMS for planning, scheduling, and data management.
  • Background in Rail Maintenance.
  • A solid foundation in work management processes, with several years of hands-on experience.
  • Positive attitude and a collaborative approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated analytical and data-driven mindset with a focus on process and reliability improvement.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, Outlook); MS Project desirable but not essential.
  • (We’re not looking for a world-leading SAP expert — we have strong internal mentors. What’s important is a sound understanding, willingness to learn, and a great team fit.)
