Work Location: Fortescue’s Port Hedland Operations – on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people
Roster: 4 days on / 3 days off – FIFO ex Perth or Residential in Port Hedland (relocation and housing support available)

This is a role where your influence counts. You’ll lead critical magnetite workstreams, unlock inload and outload operational capacity, and drive initiatives that support Fortescue’s journey toward truly green, future-focused operations.
Based at our Hedland Operations, this role will lead key operational workstreams to enhance magnetite product management, outload process optimisation and delivery—while collaborating closely across internal and external stakeholders to deliver safe and reliable shipped tonnes.
You’ll also play a pivotal role across the broader Port and Rail interface, identifying opportunities to remove bottlenecks, improve flow, and enhance production performance across the full inload–outload supply chain.
And with Fortescue’s industry-leading decarbonisation efforts well underway, you’ll be actively engaged with our decarb partners to progress greener, cleaner port operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, Influence & Optimise
- Drive high-value magnetite workstreams with a focus on process excellence, compliance, quality, and throughput uplift.
- Build a robust IBC/magnetite outload delivery strategy that resolves constraints and supports consistent shipped tonnage performance.
Unlock Value & Improve Systems
- Identify and resolve operational and product-related bottlenecks to improve end-to-end supply chain flow.
- Develop and embed systems, processes and tools that enhance operational readiness and delivery.
- Collaborate with Port and Rail teams to minimise delays, reduce constraints and elevate production performance.
Champion Sustainability
- Work closely with Fortescue’s decarb partners to introduce and accelerate green initiatives that support low-carbon port operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification, trade or certification in Process Operations or Process Engineering (preferred).
- Strong understanding of magnetite processing, handling, and logistics.
- Prior supervisory experience within an operations environment (preferred)
- Section 26 competency.
- Experience across integrated mining and end-to-end supply chain operations, including inload/outload coordination.
- Proficiency with operational planning, analytics and KPI reporting tools.
- Strong risk management capability with disciplined control adherence.
- Exceptional problem-solving capability and the ability to influence diverse stakeholder groups.
- A genuine commitment to safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
