Our Opportunity

Work Location: Hedland – Port Operations. Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.


Roster: 4 days on / 4 nights on / 8 days off – Residential in Port Hedland (relocation assistance available)

About the Role

Reporting to the Port Operations Supervisor, you’ll take ownership of the safe and efficient operation of the fixed plant while supporting production outcomes across the supply chain. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll contribute to continuous improvement, coach and support your crew, and ensure operational excellence in line with Fortescue’s values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, promoting a strong safety-first culture across Port Operations
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues that impact productivity
  • Identify and report hazards, and drive corrective actions to reduce risks
  • Monitor and adjust processes to ensure product meets specification and output is maximised
  • Generate and implement ideas for continuous improvement
  • Conduct operational tasks safely and effectively in line with Standard Work Instructions and JHAs
  • Develop deep knowledge of plant equipment and processes, resolving minor defects where possible
  • Prioritise tasks to optimise production time and efficiency
  • Lead, train, and support a diverse team to deliver high performance outcomes

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in fixed plant or port terminal operations
  • Background in mining, mineral processing, or bulk material handling (shiploading experience desirable)
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage and train a diverse workforce
  • Competent in SAP and computer-based maintenance/operating systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current WA C Class Driver’s Licence
  • High-risk work licences (LF, DG, SB, RB, EWP) highly regarded
