Work Location: Port Hedland, Western Australia, Fortescue’s Port Hedland operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

 

Roster: 8 Days On / 6 Days Off – FIFO ex Perth

 

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering & Reliability team at Fortescue’s Hedland Operations Port Facility.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in driving equipment reliability, defect elimination and process optimisation across our Port operations. You will work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to identify improvement opportunities, solve complex technical problems and deliver sustainable reliability outcomes that enhance safety and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion Fortescue’s commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental standards in all aspects of work.
  • Lead and facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and develop effective corrective actions.
  • Apply reliability engineering principles and data analysis to identify performance trends and eliminate equipment defects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide innovative and practical technical solutions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accurate downtime and performance reporting systems.
  • Mentor and support graduate engineers to build technical capability within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in reliability or maintenance engineering, ideally within the resources sector.
  • Strong understanding of reliability methodologies such as FMECA, RCM and RCA.
  • Experience in condition monitoring techniques and data interpretation.
  • Proficiency with SAP or similar maintenance management systems (preferred).
  • Sound knowledge of mining legislation, safety regulations and operational standards.
