Work Location: Hedland Operations (separated by Port & Rail, if relevant)
- Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth or residential
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Locomotive Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on optimising locomotive fleet performance, driving maintenance excellence, and supporting the growth of our rollingstock operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse locomotive fleet performance, reliability, and costs to define departmental priorities.
- Identify and mitigate risks to both assets and the business.
- Develop, optimizs, and oversee maintenance strategies to ensure high operational standards.
- Defect elimination through the application of best practice problem solving tools and techniques (RCA, 5 Whys etc)
- Provide technical support and recommendations based on findings from data analysis, testing and engagement with internal and external stakeholders including OEM, and maintainers.
- Uphold and promote a strong culture of safety in all engineering and operational activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
- Current WA C Class Driver’s License.
- 3-4 years of rollingstock experience within the Mining, Bulk Material, or Heavy Industry sectors.
- A keen willingness to learn and adopt new technologies related to locomotives.
- A high level of planning and problem solving ability.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of EAM, CMMS software including basic knowledge of SAP operation
- Strong ability on computer-based programs such as MS office suite and Navisworks
