Work Location: Pilbara Operations 

 

Roster: 14 days on / 7 days off - FIFO ex Perth 

 

Site Environmental Advisor for Exploration and Resource Development sites where there is underlying Exploration tenure or overlap.  The role will involve field based and desktop-based environmental work in WA.  May include travel to Kalgoorlie and other localities outside of the Pilbara as the need arises.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Reviewing all current approvals and checking for compliance or other environmental issues
  • Reviewing ISO14001 documentation including but not limited to Risk Registers and Environmental Management Plans
  • Reviewing the above to prioritise higher risk areas that need further focus (or auditing) to ensure compliance
  • Assist in facilitation of external and internal environmental approvals audits
  • Complete four audits (LUC’s) per Financial Year
  • Communicate with supervisory and managerial staff on the environmental approvals performance as required
  • Provide advice to site team on environmental approvals and environmental compliance issues
  • Identify actions to ensure compliance is documented and implemented in appropriate timeframe
  • Ensure incident outcomes are conveyed to the wider team and actions are put in place to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Carry out further Environmental Approvals inspections, monitoring and incident investigation as they arise
  • Ensure all approvals related reportable incidents are investigated and appropriately communicated
  • Review and provide comment on environmental approval documentation, management plans and procedures.
  • Deliver environmental appropriate toolboxes, SWI’s and other training as applicable.
  • Provide direction and advice to Site teams in all areas of environmental management

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Conservation Biology or similar discipline 
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental approvals, exploration, mining or government sector 
  • Experience in delivering management plans and associated documented objectives
  • Experience in auditing and inspections of environmental approvals within a dynamic working environment
  • Sound understanding of current legislative requirements in regard to environmental management in WA
  • Work collaboratively with consultants and complete Health and Safety requirements for Environmental Surveys
  • Ability to work individually and as a team for project work
  • Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritise effectively
  • Ability to work with the Exploration/Resource Development  leadership team and form positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems
  • Manual C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Certificate II First Responder or IV in Basic Healthcare would be desirable
