In this pivotal role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring high quality planning of maintenance practices, operational efficiencies, continuous improvement and well structured processes to support the safe execution of our major shutdowns.

As our Maintenance Planning Superintendent, you will lead the end-to-end planning and scheduling of all major shutdowns, weekly maintenance activities, and long-term asset care strategies across Fortescue’s Port facilities. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams across Execution, Engineering, Logistics, Shutdown, and Operations — fostering a culture of precision planning, continuous improvement, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Planning team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Oversee the development of long, medium, and short-term maintenance plans across the Port maintenance areas.
  • Ensure data integrity and governance of SAP master data in alignment with Fortescue standards.

  • Collaborate across Port Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to ensure planning processes and deliverables meet the highest standards.
  • Partner with Finance to develop budgets, track maintenance costs, and forecast expenditure.
  • Engage with contracting partners to develop detailed methodologies, scopes, and execution strategies.
  • Analyse and optimise maintenance strategies through risk management, continuous improvement, and performance review.
  • Monitor and report on plan adherence, proactively identifying constraints and implementing solutions to maintain performance targets.
  • Champion safety and compliance, embedding risk-aware planning and ensuring all maintenance activities align with Fortescue standards and statutory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

You bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership capability, and a passion for delivering well-planned, efficient fixed plant maintenance. Ideally, you have:

  • Proven experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or reliability leadership roles within heavy industry, mining, or similar operational environments.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to build capability and foster collaboration.
  • Demonstrated experience with SAP or similar CMMS systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • High attention to detail, strategic thinking, and a commitment to safety and sustainability.
