Process Senior Engineer
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
We’re seeking a Senior Process Engineer to deliver expert technical support across diverse metallurgical and process engineering challenges. In this role, you’ll lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of process improvement and optimization initiatives.
Collaborating closely with site operations teams, Process Control Engineers, Integrated Operations Centre staff, and other Technical Services, Life-of-Mine (LOM), and Operations Planning teams, you’ll play a key role in driving operational excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver solutions to existing operational challenges regarding safety, process, yield or upgrade
- Engaging all stakeholders to understand and identify business needs
- Process diagnostic and technical governance implementation
- Working with the Technical Services and Site team to deliver modelling requirements and presenting modelling outcomes
- Develop and manage testwork programs to progress project evaluation
- Develop projects with Operations; supporting through design, execution, commissioning and handover
- Generate and / or approve process related deliverables and documentation for project evaluation and delivery
- Ensure correct application of Health & Safety standards
- Oversee technical quality, integrity and adequacy of designs
- Regular site travel
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary Qualifications in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or similar discipline
- 8 - 12 years in mineral processing industry with direct operational/ technical development experience with producer
- Process engineering experience on major mineral processing projects working on materials handling, crushing, screening and wet beneficiation process plant (especially physical separation unit processes)
- Demonstrated experience in most major components of mining project studies and development
- Strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus with practical alignment to reality
- Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus
- Proven capability to effectively communicate, engage and interact with individuals at all levels
