Senior Cyber Specialist– Data Protection

Work Location: Perth, Western Australia.

Roster: Monday to Friday (5:2)

The Cyber Security team is responsible for leading Fortescue's efforts to be a cyber resilient, safe and trusted organisation, by effectively managing risk across all assets enabled through technology (informational, industrial and operational)

Reporting to the Superintendent of Cyber Risk Advisory, the role will be responsible for data protection within Fortescue environment.

 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Support the ongoing operation and optimisation of data protection solutions.
  • Provide advice on defining data protection controls and the application and operation of the appropriate procedural and technical controls.
  • Support investigation of actual or potential data breaches and recommend actions and appropriate control improvements.
  • Provide technical expertise to enable the configuration of data protection solutions.
  • Work closely with Technology and other departments to develop policies and solutions to protect sensitive data across a variety of channels.
  • Lead the development of Data Protection roadmap by collaborating with Data protection team and Cyber leadership.
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data protection controls to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
  • Responsible to identify and implement automation of incident response related to data loss events.
  • Lead Data Protection AI initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable configuration standards and best practice frameworks related to Data protection

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Data governance and privacy regulation related knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in successful delivery of Data Protection initiatives or program of work.
  • Expert knowledge in Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies/products such as Microsoft Purview, Azure, Sentinel, Defender, Netskope, D-Tex, Forcepoint, Veritas, Varonis etc.
  • Experience with developing Data Protection queries and reporting dashboards.
  • Independent judgement and strong decision-making capabilities.
  • An ability to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences at all levels.
  • An understanding of organizational mission, values, and goals and consistent application of this knowledge.
  • Ability to react to high pressure dynamic changing environments;
  • Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team.
