Our Opportunity
Location: Eliwana - Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.
Roster: 8D6R FIFO ex Perth
Reporting to the Superintendent - Health & Safety, this role is responsible for assisting with the planning, improvement, and implementation of Fortescue's Health and Safety Management System. You will participate and coach operational leadership in the implementation of Fortescue’s safety and Risk Reduction programs.
With previous experience in incident investigations (in particular ICAM), you will engage and provide guidance to operational leadership to improve organisational learning within health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with leaders to support HSES strategic goals
- Coach and mentor frontline leaders to build safety capability
- Support incident investigations and ensure effective closeout
- Drive implementation of Major Hazard Program and Risk framework
- Ensure compliance with HSES systems, standards, and legislation
- Analyse safety data to identify trends and improvement areas
- Contribute to setting and achieving HSES objectives and targets
- Promote visible Safety leadership and field engagement
- Support audits, inspections, and action closeout
Qualifications and Experience
- Positive, passionate team player, committed to safety and supporting others.
- Eager to grow in an exciting, evolving business and contribute to a high-performing team
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety (desirable)
- Experience in Health & Safety roles within Mining, Heavy Industry, or Construction
- Proven experience supporting HSES systems, audits, and assurance activities
- Strong knowledge of WHS Legislation and application in operational environments
- Demonstrated ability to coach and influence frontline leaders and operational teams
- Experience in incident investigation (ICAM or equivalent methodology)
- Competency in Risk / Hazard Management, Critical Controls
- Skilled in data analysis and safety reporting tools (desirable)
