Fixed Plant Mechanical Technician

 

Work Location: Hedland Operations - Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

 

Roster: 8D/6R/7N/7R – Residential Only

 

This role is based at our Herb Elliot Port facility and is part of our weekly maintenance shift team. A typical day in this role would consist of a heavy base of preventative, predictive and repair work with breakdown maintenance included. 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • High quality safety and continuous improvement practices
  • Completing preventative maintenance to minimize machine downtime and utilize Standard Work Instructions
  • Diagnosing and fault finding of dust suppression equipment
  • Liaise with stores/warehouse to order and collect spare parts as required
  • Use SAP to raise notifications, close out work orders, time confirmations and cause codes
  • Acting on any hazards found to ensure a safe place of work is maintained

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Cert 3 Fixed Plant Mechanical Engineering Trade or equivalent 
  • Hydraulic experience (preferred) 
  • Ability to use SAP systems confidently
  • A strong diagnostic skill set
  • Ability to support Supervisor in daily duties would be desirable but we strongly encourage applicants new to the trade to apply
  • Ability to obtain a MSIC identification card 
  • Current high risk work licence
