Maintenance Inspector - NDT Technician
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Solomon - Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D6R – FIFO ex Perth or Busselton
Our Solomon Mobile Maintenance team are seeking a Maintenance Inspector (Non-Destructive Testing Technician) to conduct regular structural and condition-based maintenance inspections on Heavy Mobile equipment to improve equipment reliability and minimise unplanned maintenance by early defect identification.
The role will also be responsible for:
- carrying out magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic thickness and eddy current inspections both within the workshop and at other requested locations as required;
- reporting the findings of tests and liaise with the leadership team;
- establishing and maintaining accurate data in the relevant NDT databases;
- identifying and recommending any improvements in the NDT inspection and HME welding practices; and
- advising the planning and execution teams on priority work.
Key Responsibilities
- Detailed inspections of mobile equipment mainly Caterpillar 793F.
- Creating notifications / work orders in SAP.
- Ensure all activities undertaken are carried out in accordance with company safety policy and procedures.
- Conduct MCORS pre & post inspections and contribute to work scope.
- Liaise with Reliability Engineers to conduct fleet analysis and provide support to the onsite Supervisor when needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Eddy Current Inspection PCN Lv. 2 or equivalent (desirable).
- Magnetic Particle Inspection PCN Lv. 2 or equivalent.
- Ultrasonic Thickness Testing PCN Lv. 2 or equivalent.
- Liquid Penetrant Inspection PCN Lv. 2 or equivalent (desirable).
- Demonstrated and significant experience working in mining on heavy vehicle maintenance preferably Haul trucks (desirable).
- Current C Class Drivers Licence.
