Job Title: Maintenance Technical Officer – Fixed PlantOur Opportunity
Work Location – Port Hedland Roster – 8 days on, 6 days off residential role or FIFO potential in Port Hedland
Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people..With a focus on mechanical reliability and continuous improvement within our fixed plant assets, the Fixed Plant Mechanical Technical Officer will apply advanced fault-finding and diagnostic skills to support the performance and reliability of critical infrastructure. This role plays a key part in driving proactive maintenance strategies, project scoping, and execution of improvement initiatives across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Raising notifications and work orders within the maintenance management system
- Conducting breakdown support, root cause analysis, and fault-finding on fixed plant equipment (e.g., stackers ,reclaimers, conveyors, pumps, chutes, train unloaders etc.)
- Performing and supporting preventative and predictive maintenance tasks
- Scoping, planning, and executing mechanical upgrades and small-to-medium capital projects
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to enhance asset reliability and plant availability
- Supporting reliability initiatives including defect elimination and reliability reporting
Qualifications and Experience
- Australian-recognised Mechanical Fitter trade qualification
- A strong personal commitment to safety and risk management
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and system diagnostics
- Previous experience in fixed plant maintenance within the mining or heavy industry sector
- Current C-Class Driver's License
- Working knowledge of maintenance management systems, e.g., SAP
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment
