Our Opportunity

Work Location: Christmas Creek


Roster: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, FIFO from Perth


As a Cable Crew Member at Fortescue, you will help keep our electric mining equipment operating safely and efficiently. You will work as part of a team to handle, position and inspect mining cables, with a strong focus on safe work practices and clear communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely handle, deploy, retrieve and reposition mining cables in accordance with approved procedures and work plans.
  • Support cable moves for electric mining equipment, working closely with operators, supervisors and other work groups.
  • Inspect cables and associated equipment, and promptly report damage, defects or hazards.
  • Maintain safe cable routes and work areas, including using approved controls to protect cables and people.
  • Operate support equipment only when trained and authorised to do so.
  • Follow site procedures, risk controls and directions from the Mining Supervisor.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and contribute to the care of equipment and work areas.
  • Communicate clearly with the crew and other teams to coordinate work safely.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment focused on safety, inclusion and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate Fortescue’s Values and Code of Conduct and Integrity, contributing to an inclusive and respectful workplace.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment, preferably in cable handling or equipment support.
  • Experience operating tractors and loaders is highly desirable.
  • Current dogging and crane high-risk work licences are highly desirable.
  • Ability to follow work plans, procedures and risk controls.
  • Strong hazard awareness and a commitment to safe work practices.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Current WA C-Class driver’s licence.
