Capital Governance Principal

Location:  Perth, Western Australia. 

Roster:  Monday to Friday.

** 12 month Fixed Term Contract**

We are seeking an experienced Capital Governance Principal to join the FBP Projects & Capital team.

This role will support the management and continuous improvement of capital governance processes across the business. You will provide robust oversight of capital prioritisation, submissions, reporting and assurance, while partnering with senior stakeholders to improve the quality, transparency and effectiveness of capital portfolio.

The role is well suited to a commercially minded professional with experience across capital projects, governance, portfolio management or business planning. You will be comfortable working across complex, cross-functional environments and translating data and governance requirements into clear insights and practical business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate and govern the Capital Allocation Review Forum (CARF), including coordination of Quarterly Director Sessions and engagement with the Portfolio Owners Leadership Team to support enterprise capital planning and investment decisions.
• Support capital prioritisation and strategic portfolio optimisation, including the enhancement of quantitative risk assessment methodologies and provision of commercial insights for executive decision-making.
• Oversee the governance and assurance of capital submissions, ensuring alignment across Capital Expenditure Requests, CARF, delegation of authority and corporate governance frameworks.
• Lead process improvement and operational excellence initiatives to improve governance efficiency, business performance and organisational effectiveness.
• Partner with Risk, Asset Management, Engineering, Operations and Business Planning teams to drive alignment and effective capital governance outcomes.
• Provide guidance, coaching and capability uplift to FBPs and key stakeholders on capital governance processes, frameworks and DCRM requirements.
• Lead the integration, standardisation and continuous improvement of capital data platforms, improving risk visibility, portfolio transparency and data integrity.
• Develop clear reports, dashboards and insights to support senior leadership and executive decision-making.
• Identify emerging governance, process, data and delivery risks, and recommend practical solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce, engineering, project management, business, risk or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in capital governance, project controls, portfolio management, business planning, finance or a related function.
• Experience working across major capital projects, sustaining capital, asset management or complex investment portfolios.
• A strong understanding of project development, capital planning, investment evaluation, governance and assurance processes.
• Experience working with delegation of authority frameworks, investment submissions, approval processes and executive reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to assess business cases, challenge assumptions and provide commercially sound recommendations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and communicate clear, concise insights.
• Demonstrated experience developing and improving Power BI dashboards, reports and data visualisations.
• Experience with capital management, workflow or reporting systems such as DCRM, Power BI, SAP, Anaplan or similar platforms.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across multiple functions and levels.
• A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to lead change in a complex organisation.
