Capital & Project Lead

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Capital & Projects Lead to oversee the coordination, governance and delivery of Energy Operations capital projects.

Reporting to the Asset Performance Superintendent, this role is responsible for managing the departmental capital portfolio across the full project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with site priorities, corporate capital governance frameworks and long-term asset strategies.

Working closely with operational, engineering and asset management teams, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget while supporting operational readiness and sustainable asset performance outcomes.

This role also plays a key part in portfolio reporting, capital forecasting and continuous improvement in project delivery practices across Energy Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and govern the Energy Operations capital portfolio across the full project lifecycle

• Maintain oversight of project budgets, schedules and risk profiles to ensure successful delivery

• Chair and present monthly and quarterly CAPEX portfolio meetings to departmental leadership

• Own and maintain the capital portfolio framework for the department

• Ensure portfolio budget integrity, including reforecasts, capital reallocations and cost tracking

• Monitor project health across cost, schedule and risk and approve deferrals, accelerations or scope adjustments

• Align the capital portfolio with department strategy and future operational growth

• Develop and maintain multi-year capital expenditure forecasts

• Act as the key departmental interface between operational teams, stakeholders and vendors

• Drive improvements in capital governance, reporting and project delivery processes

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience delivering or coordinating capital or operational projects

• Experience managing project schedules, budgets and timelines across full project lifecycles

• Experience managing capital expenditure forecasts and portfolio reporting

• Knowledge of asset management principles and capital governance frameworks

• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

• Strong analytical capability with the ability to identify cost drivers and implement corrective actions

• Advanced organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Experience using SAP, MS Excel and maintenance or project systems

• Qualifications aligned with asset management or project management frameworks

• Graduate Diploma in Asset Management or similar (advantageous)

• Current WA C-Class Driver’s Licence
