Work Location: Hedland Operations – located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

 

Roster: 8 Days On / 6 Days Off FIFO ex Perth or Residentially based in Port Hedland

Fortescue is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Civil Supervisor – Port to join our Port Operations team in Port Hedland. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating civil and material handling activities across a live operational environment, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently and in line with operational requirements.

 

The successful candidate will play a key role in magnetite stockpile management to achieve Transportable Moisture Limit (TML) compliance, oversee underbelt cleaning and spillage management activities, and coordinate general civil maintenance works including roads, drainage and shutdown support activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise teams delivering safe and efficient civil and magnetite handling operations
  • Manage magnetite stockpiles to ensure TML compliance for shipping requirements
  • Coordinate underbelt cleaning and spillage management within live operational environments
  • Plan and oversee civil maintenance activities including roads, drainage and site infrastructure works
  • Ensure compliance with safety systems, permits and risk management processes
  • Monitor and improve team performance, productivity and equipment utilisation
  • Support workforce capability development and succession planning initiatives
  • Execute SAP work orders and time confirmations
  • Maintain BMS discipline relating to incidents, hazards, actions and leadership safety interactions
  • Coordinate contractors and operational stakeholders to achieve planned outcomes safely and efficiently

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a supervisory or leading hand role within mining, port or bulk material handling operations
  • Strong background in civil works and live operational environments
  • Experience managing teams and heavy equipment operations
  • Understanding of stockpile management and moisture control processes
  • Knowledge of magnetite handling and TML requirements is desirable
  • Familiarity working around live conveyors and underbelt environments
  • Strong planning, coordination and problem-solving skills
  • SAP and/or BMS experience
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence
  • HR Licence desirable
  • Supervisor training or leadership qualification preferred
