Roster: 4 Days On /3 Off- FIFO ex Perth or residentially based in Port Hedland
Fortescue is seeking an experienced and driven Compliance & Risk Engineer to join our Engineering team in Port Hedland. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, compliance, and operational performance of key assets across our operations.
As the subject matter expert for tank compliance and risk management, you will lead site-wide improvement initiatives, manage inspection programs, provide technical engineering guidance, and drive continuous improvement in asset integrity practices. Working closely with operational, maintenance, and engineering stakeholders, you will help ensure our assets remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities
- Champion a strong safety culture and compliance-first mindset across all activities
- Ensure designs, repairs, and maintenance activities comply with statutory regulations, industry standards, and Fortescue requirements
- Lead site-wide compliance audits, inspections, and performance reviews
- Act as the primary point of contact for all compliance and risk management requirements
- Maintain SAP records and internal asset integrity and defect registers
- Coordinate third-party inspection providers, including onboarding, QA/QC activities, and report management
- Review and assess inspection findings against relevant codes, standards, and engineering requirements
- Develop remediation scopes and provide technical recommendations for asset improvements
- Drive continuous improvement through the development and review of inspection methodologies and work procedures
- Coordinate operational readiness activities and ensure project milestones are achieved safely and efficiently
- Work closely with engineering for "Custodian"
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree qualification in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
- API 653 and/or AICIP certification
- Demonstrated experience in design, inspection, installation, repair, and maintenance
- Experience managing risk and compliance programs within a mining, heavy industry, or industrial environment
- Current manual driver's licence
- Project management experience highly regarded
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and report-writing capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within deadlines
