Our Opportunity

 

This position is the senior Fortescue leader in Morocco and responsible for all operations therein.  


The primary role is to lead the Fortescue presence and deliver the entire portfolio while identifying and securing add on business opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities

 

•    This role will drive the strategic direction within the host country and manage all courses of business functions including establishment of the office and local workforce, commercial licenses, projects, budget, government engagement, community social relations, Health and Safety and all other aspects required to deliver and operate the Fortescue projects. 
•    Once the projects reach COD, the Country Director will have full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility to ensure continued profitability of the business.
•    Oversee engaged consultants to produce outcomes required to support development and delivery of the Fortescue Portfolio
•    Ensure Fortescue adheres to all Government regulations and procedures relating to maintaining our business licenses. 
•    Support the Fortescue technical teams by engaging required consultants and Subject Matter Experts to ensure best practice and use of world leading technologies
•    Develop and Coach host country staff to help provide further growth opportunities
•    Implement innovative ideas to improve project delivery and highlight Fortescue as the employee of choice
•    Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including Fortescue Employees, Fortescue Executive Team, Consultants and Service Providers
•    Identify and prosecute opportunities to improve the Fortescue brand
•    Prepare board reporting as required 
•    Plan, forecast and manage the Fortescue in country budget 
•    Maximize performance and culture across the team to provide a thriving environment

Qualifications and Experience

 

•    Post-graduate degree in relevant area (e.g. Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science)
•    10+ years plus working in the area of Energy Management, Renewable Energy, Energy Transition (across multiple energy types)
•    7+ years managing large teams to successfully deliver complex projects
•    Worked within regulatory environments in Power or Renewables in Morocco – ideally 
•    Empathetic leadership
•    Commercial elements of energy transition
•    End-to-end Project Execution
•    Cross-functional engagement and alignment
•    Technical systems capabilities
•    Strong communication and problem-solving skills
•    Strong commitment to driving meaningful change
•    Ongoing desire to learn and embrace stretch targets
