Our Opportunity
Work Location: Hedland Operations (Port) Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 8 Days on / 6 Days off FIFO from Perth
Role overview:
Reporting to the Electrical Projects Coordinator, the Electrical Project Specialist is responsible for the planning, coordination and successful delivery of electrical projects across Fortescue's Anderson Point Port Facility.
Working closely with Maintenance, Operations, Shutdowns and Engineering Reliability teams, you will manage projects from initial scoping through to completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with Fortescue's project delivery framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project scopes, schedules, cost estimates and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Shutdown and Engineering Reliability teams to define project requirements.
- Coordinate stakeholders and facilitate regular project update meetings.
- Manage project execution across planning, shutdown and live operational environments.
- Raise SAP notifications and maintain project documentation.
- Coordinate tendering activities, contractor engagement and contract reviews.
- Liaise with Procurement and Contracts teams to source and manage long lead items.
- Attend contractor, planning and shutdown execution meetings.
- Review and update engineering drawings, redlines and technical documentation.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules and work order backlogs.
- Ensure compliance with Fortescue's project delivery processes, engineering KPIs and contractor compliance requirements.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Complete project close-out activities, including updating master data and inspection documentation.
- Be flexible to support project execution activities, including roster adjustments and occasional night shift work when required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical Trade Certificate.
- 2–5 years' experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- 2–5 years' experience managing electrical or capital projects.
- Experience using SAP (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Project, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, including conducting field interactions and promoting safe work practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across all organisational levels.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and perform effectively under pressure.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
