Our Opportunity

 

Work Location:Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of Whadjuk people. 

 

Roster:Monday to Friday 

 

We are seeking an amazing team player to join the employment law team that sits within our People function. This is a role where you will make a real difference. Supporting all of Fortescue’s global operations, you will guide the People team on ER and IR matters and work directly with leaders to help make key business decisions. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work as part of a collaborative and high-functioning team and a commitment to delivering pragmatic, high quality ER and IR advice. You will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and enjoy the collegiality and empowerment that comes from this important and exciting role.  

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice to the leadership and human resources teams regarding all aspects of employee and industrial relations matters. 
  • Represent Fortescue, including through advocacy work,  and work with external counsel where matters are briefed out.  
  • Oversee complex employee relations matters and provide support to the human resources team and leaders. 
  • Work collaboratively to shape Fortescue’s approach to managing psychosocial safety. 
  • Prepare, review and amend key governance documents, including contracts of employment and workplace policies and procedures. 
  • Build capability through coaching, development and in-house training of leadership and human resources team. 
  • Prepare papers and updates for internal and external stakeholders as required (including our executive committee and Board members). 
  • Liaise and network with appropriate industry bodies on behalf of Fortescue and contribute to policy outcomes. 

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a law degree and experience in-house or in private practice providing employment law advice and appearing in Fair Work Commission conciliation conferences.  
  • Must have experience in the proper management of workplace investigations and the resolution of workplace concerns.   
  • Must have a demonstrated track record of being a well-regarded collaborative team member and assisting to build and strengthen a high-performing collaborative team.
