Our Opportunity
Work Location: Cloudbreak. Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D6R FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue is transforming its energy assets to support our target of zero terrestrial emissions by 2030. Reporting to the Energy Operations Eastern Region Superintendent, you will join a technically disciplined team and play a key role in safely leading electrical operations and maintenance activities across a diverse and growing asset portfolio.
The Energy Operations Eastern Region portfolio includes 11kV to 33kV distribution networks across Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak, thermal power stations, and emergency diesel power stations supporting site villages. The portfolio is also expanding to include a 220kV transmission network from Lambda to Christmas Creek, along with a 190MW solar farm and battery energy storage systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the team to safely execute daily and weekly work plans.
• Carry out regular field leadership activities and provide clear direction and support to team members.
• Ensure maintenance and operational activities are completed safely, efficiently, and without disruption to transmission or distribution network supply.
• Record field leadership interactions, hazards, and improvement opportunities within business systems, and provide timely feedback to the team.
• Manage onsite contractors and ensure compliance with Fortescue standards and relevant industry requirements.
• Set clear expectations for team members and maintain role clarity and accountability across the team.
• Support compliance with maintenance strategies, KPIs, and SAP work management processes, with a focus on reducing reactive maintenance.
• Lead by example in line with Fortescue's Values and Code of Conduct.
• Support the development of a capable and engaged workforce through coaching, mentoring, and structured development planning.
• Foster a team culture that values safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure incidents are identified, reported, and managed in line with Fortescue escalation processes.
• Review and sign off electrical installations completed by the team as part of nominee responsibilities where required.
Qualifications and Experience
• Electrical trade qualification with current WA Electrical Worker's Licence
• Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor exam completed
• High Voltage Switching certification with practical switching experience
• Current WA Manual C Class Driver's Licence
• Established experience in an Electrical Supervisor role within mining, utilities, power, or heavy industry
• Strong experience working on HV and LV electrical systems, including operations and maintenance activities
• Sound understanding of electrical safety, statutory obligations, and relevant work management practices
• Proven ability to lead teams and contractors in a safe, compliant, and productive operating environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP
• Experience in transmission and distribution networks, power generation, or other large-scale HV electrical environments
• Previous nominee experience signing off electrical installations in line with applicable standards and licensing requirements
• HR Driver's Licence (desirable)
• High Risk Work Licence - WP, LF (desirable)
• Working at Heights training (desirable)
• Experience with GIS switchgear (desirable)
• Experience with PLC or ComAp control systems (desirable)
