Work Location: Gabon, Belinga project
Roster: 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off Fixed Term Contract
Summary
The Field and Program Lead is responsible for driving continuous improvement and operational integration across the Belinga exploration program. Working across Field Operations, Earthworks, Environment, HSE, Logistics and other stakeholder functions, this role will identify opportunities to streamline workflows, remove operational constraints and strengthen the connection between approvals, planning and field execution.
A key focus of the role is integrating effective in-country practices with Fortescue systems and standards, including ATLAS and associated reporting tools, while developing consistent and fit-for-purpose processes across the program. The role will also support the development of local capability through training, coaching and the implementation of sustainable systems and processes that improve operational effectiveness and continuity as the project grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive continuous improvement across Field Operations, Earthworks, Environment, HSE, Logistics and supporting functions.
- Streamline cross-functional workflows between approvals, planning and field execution to improve operational efficiency.
- Integrate effective in-country practices with Fortescue systems, standards and governance requirements.
- Develop and standardise fit-for-purpose field procedures, work instructions and reporting practices.
- Support the implementation and adoption of Fortescue systems, including ATLAS and associated reporting tools.
- Identify operational constraints and implement practical solutions to improve safety, productivity, data quality and reliability.
- Improve communication, handovers and accountability between operational and support functions.
- Build local capability through training, coaching and mentoring to embed sustainable systems and ways of working.
- Monitor operational performance and support the resolution of cross-functional issues and emerging constraints.
- Support scalable systems and processes that enable safe, compliant and efficient delivery as the exploration program grows.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in mining and/or exploration operations, including coordinating field or earthworks activities.
- Demonstrated experience allocating resources and coordinating multi-team daily work fronts.
- Experience supporting compliance reporting, inspections, corrective actions and maintaining accurate operational records.
- Strong understanding of site safety requirements, work instructions, environmental compliance and land access requirements.
- Knowledge of local regulatory and environmental requirements for site works in Africa.
- Good knowledge of land use certificate and ATLAS procedures, company compliance obligations and earthworks contractor interfaces.
- Strong planning, prioritisation, communication, recordkeeping and reporting capability, with practical safety leadership and risk identification skills.
- Computer-based skills and experience with relevant software packages, including GIS.
- Tertiary education or a relevant field operations qualification is preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Relevant licences and training are highly regarded, including First Aid, ISO 45001/14001, ICAM, risk management, contractor assurance, emergency response, continuous improvement and a valid Driver's Licence.
