Our Opportunity
Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 7D/7N/14R - FIFO ex Perth, Busselton, Broome, Karratha, Port Hedland, Fitzroy Crossing and Kununurra.
Fortescue is seeking an experienced and safety-driven Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitter to join the OPF Maintenance Team at Cloudbreak. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimising fixed plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient ore processing operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and continuous improvement initiatives within the OPF.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on fixed plant equipment including crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and processing equipment
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement timely corrective actions
- Execute component change-outs, overhauls, and equipment rebuilds
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals
- Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately in SAP (or site CMMS)
- Conduct inspections and condition monitoring activities
- Participate in shutdowns and major maintenance campaigns
- Maintain strict compliance with Fortescue safety and operational standards
Qualifications and Experience
- Trade qualification - Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in fixed plant maintenance within mining or heavy industry
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability
- Experience working on crushers, conveyors and processing plant equipment
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- Working at Heights and Confined Space certification (or ability to obtain)
- High commitment to safety and risk management
- Ability to work effectively within a team in a high-paced production environment
