Our Opportunity
Work Location: Shanghai Pudong
Roster: Monday to Friday Full Time
We are seeking a Governance and Compliance Officer to support the delivery and ongoing operation of Fortescue’s global business integrity compliance programs.
Reporting to the Perth Governance and Compliance team, and indirectly reporting to Legal China, this Shanghai based role will be responsible for supporting a broad range of compliance initiatives, helping to ensure Fortescue operates ethically and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and internal standards across all jurisdictions in which we operate.
Key Responsibilities
• Undertake due diligence activities, including in-country verification on suppliers, customers and business partners
• Assist with compliance risk assessments, monitoring activities, reporting and audit preparation
• Maintain compliance registers, records and governance documentation
• Provide translating support (Chinese and English) in meetings and for governance documentation
• Provide first-line guidance on routine compliance matters and support stakeholder engagement across the business
• Continuously monitor regulations and updates as they relate to matters of business integrity, regularly communicating updates to the Perth team
• Assist with investigations, as required
• Ad hoc legal research, on business integrity matters
• Assist the Perth team with other projects, as required
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor Degree of Law preferred
• 1-2 years legal or compliance work experience preferred
• Exposure to business integrity compliance programs and governance frameworks, or eager to gain experience in this area
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and record-management skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Native Chinese with profound English speaking and written skills
• Proactive, collaborative approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
