Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D6R7N7R - FIFO ex Perth
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for experienced High Voltage Electricians looking to work on large-scale electric mining equipment and play a key part in the transition to a greener, more technology-driven fleet.
Reporting directly to the High Voltage Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the high voltage power supply to 9400E Excavators and PV271E Pit Viper Drill Rigs, working closely with mining operations and cable handling teams to keep critical production equipment running safely and efficiently.
You will be trusted to carry out high voltage switching, statutory inspections, fault finding, repairs, and compliance activities across the mining fleet, with a strong focus on safety, quality, reliability, and machine availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the transition to the incoming green fleet by developing new skills, embracing emerging technology, and contributing to a high-performing maintenance team as the site moves toward a larger battery-electric and low-emissions mining fleet.
- Safely energise and de-energise high voltage power supply to 9400E Excavators and PV271E Pit Viper Drill Rigs.
- Ensure all statutory testing, inspections, and compliance checks are completed on relevant high voltage assets.
- Diagnose faults and respond to breakdowns efficiently to reduce downtime and optimise machine availability.
- Maintain, inspect, and support new fixed electrical infrastructure associated with the green fleet transition, including charging stations, high voltage supply systems, distribution equipment, and associated protection systems.
- Work closely with mining operations and cable handling teams to maintain safe working conditions for personnel and mobile equipment operating in proximity to high voltage trailing cables and power supply systems.
- Verify that safety controls are in place, effective, and fully compliant with statutory inspection and testing requirements.
- Collaborate with mobile maintenance and cable management teams to support safe execution of work and achieve schedule compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Grade Western Australian Electrical Licence.
- Current High Voltage Switching Ticket.
- Demonstrated high voltage switching experience.
- Experience working safely in small teams on critical-path maintenance activities.
- Experience with electric HME, fixed electrical infrastructure, charging systems, or battery-electric equipment will be highly regarded.
