We are seeking an experienced and commercially-minded Finance leader to join us as Manager Finance Business Partner – CFO, Technology and Innovation.

 

Reporting to the GM Finance Business Partnering, this role leads the Finance Business Partnering team supporting the Chief Financial Office and Finance, Fortescue Integrated Technology (FIT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Research & Development (R&D) and Green Metal functions.

 

This dynamic role partners with executive and senior leaders to strengthen financial performance, support strategic decision-making and enable innovation through disciplined commercial and financial management. The role provides business partnering across a diverse portfolio spanning corporate finance, digital technology, artificial intelligence, research, innovation and emerging technologies.

 

The role also plays a key role in the financial governance and reporting for Fortescue's AI and Research & Development investment portfolios, ensuring robust investment frameworks, value realisation, prioritisation and performance measurement to support the delivery of innovative technologies that create long-term value for the business.

 

This role requires strong commercial acumen, exceptional stakeholder management skills, a strategic mindset, intellectual curiosity and the ability to translate complex technology and innovation initiatives into clear financial insights and investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the Finance Business Partnering team supporting the Chief Financial Officer function, Fortescue Integrated Technology (FIT) and AI, and Research & Development and Green Metal.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and financial performance reporting across the supported portfolios, providing timely insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis, commercial advice and decision support to the CFO, Director FIT & AI, Director Research & Development and Green Metal, and their respective leadership teams.
  • Partner with business leaders to evaluate technology, AI and innovation investments and opportunities, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business value and align with strategic priorities.
  • Lead financial governance, planning and reporting for the AI and Research & Development investment portfolios, including value tracking, investment frameworks and portfolio performance.
  • Support the development, assessment and prioritisation of technology and innovation business cases through robust commercial analysis and investment evaluation.
  • Develop meaningful performance reporting, dashboards and insights to improve financial transparency and support executive decision-making across the portfolio.
  • Ensure consistent financial governance, reporting frameworks and compliance with Group Accounting Policies across supported functions.
  • Lead, coach and develop team members while fostering a collaborative, commercially focused and high-performing team culture.
  • Work closely with other Finance Business Partnering Managers and the broader Finance team to deliver enterprise priorities and consistent ways of working.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, governance, reporting and business partnering practices.
  • Manage the accurate and timely completion of month-end close activities.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, commerce, finance, accounting or a related discipline.
  • CA or CPA qualification would be highly regarded.
  • 10+ years' experience across Finance, Technology, Commercial, Strategy, Innovation or related business partnering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives within a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of financial performance management, investment evaluation and business case development.
  • Experience supporting technology, digital, AI, research or innovation portfolios would be highly regarded.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to assess investment opportunities, value drivers and delivery risks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across corporate functions, technology teams and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability, including coaching, developing and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical capability, including the ability to translate complex financial and technical information into clear commercial recommendations.
  • Agile and solution-focused, with a demonstrated ability to improve governance, financial processes and business performance.
