Work Location: Perth Office - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people. Ad hoc site travel as required.

Fortescue is leading the global transition to green energy and decarbonised mining. As part of this journey, we are seeking a Materials Specialist to join our Asset and Maintenance Readiness Team within the Decarbonisation Project portfolio. 

 

 

This role is critical to ensuring our new decarbonisation assets are fully supported with the right materials, spares, and systems to enable a seamless transition from project delivery into safe, reliable operations.

 

 

You are a proactive and detail-oriented materials professional who thrives in a dynamic project environment. You bring a strong understanding of how materials readiness underpins asset reliability and are motivated by contributing to Fortescue’s decarbonisation journey.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work with the Asset Specialist to identify spares, materials and consumable requirements for decarbonisation assets
  • Work with OEMs and vendors to identify and validate spares, materials and consumables
  • Build and maintain spares, materials and consumables lists (commissioning, recommended stock, and maintenance critical spares)
  • Ensure identified spares, materials and consumables are catalogued, structured, and available ahead of asset handover to Operations
  • Ensure nominated spares, materials and consumables are added to inventory and extended where required.
  • Collaborate with project teams, reliability engineers, operations, and supply chain stakeholders to ensure alignment
  • Maintain and update material master data and equipment registers
  • Provide reporting and progress updates to key stakeholders
  • Support operational readiness activities to ensure a smooth transition of assets into operations.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Experience in materials management, inventory control, or warehousing within mining or heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of material management processes and systems (SAP or similar CMMS preferred)
  • Proven ability to work across projects and operational environments
  • Experience developing or managing spares strategies and cataloguing processes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  • Tertiary qualification (Trade, Supply Chain, or Inventory Management)
  • Experience in project or operational readiness environments
  • Exposure to decarbonisation, energy, or infrastructure projects.
