Our Opportunity
Work Location: Christmas Creek – Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex Perth
We are seeking a highly motivated Mine Surveyor to join the Operations Planning team at Christmas Creek. Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, you will use innovative surveying technologies including RPAS and laser scanning tools to safely, accurately and efficiently capture and supply spatial data to support mining operations.
This role will suit someone with strong technical capability, attention to detail and excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete weekly and monthly survey deliverables, including pit and waste as-built models.
- Undertake design checks and resource definition surveys.
- Complete machine calibrations and environmental surveys.
- Conduct end-of-month surveys and volumetric reconciliation processing.
- Perform geotechnical surveys, including pit wall and infrastructure monitoring.
- Capture and provide accurate spatial data to support operational requirements.
- Utilise RPAS and laser scanning technology to complete survey activities.
- Ensure all survey equipment is maintained, serviceable and operating within required tolerances.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification in Surveying.
- Experience working in large-scale open pit mining environments.
- Current WA C-Class Driver’s Licence.
- Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) and Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC) are desirable.
- Proficiency in Trimble GPS and Leica Total Stations.
- Experience using DJI RPAS and laser scanning technologies.
- Proficiency in Maptek Vulcan and PointStudio.
- Experience using Agisoft, Terrain and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
