Our Opportunity

 

Work Location:  Solomon minesite, Pilbara WA.  Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

 

Roster:  8D/6R, 8D/6R, 7N/7R - FIFO ex Perth

 

At Fortescue we are in the process of transforming our energy assets to achieve our climate change targets of zero emissions by 2040.  Reporting to the Electrical Generation Supervisor you will join a technically disciplined team and demonstrate an ability to deliver against a wider variety of Electrical activities which is essential to our teams’ success.

 

The Solomon Power Station is comprised of 15x Bergen medium speed gas reciprocating gensets, 2x GE LM6000PF Gas Turbine Engines and 4x Solar Titan 130 Gas Turbine Engines for a total generation capacity of 300MW and their associated balance of plant.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are resourced appropriately and executed in accordance with the maintenance strategy
  • Carry out daily rounds and plant inspections to ensure of a safe operation
  • Carry out planned and routine maintenance activities on a broad range of electrical and instrumentation equipment, Hazardous Areas and Type B gas equipment
  • Diagnosing and fault finding on all equipment within the power station and Energy Operations battery limits.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Electrical trade qualification
  • Cert IV in Instrumentation with relevant experience – essential
  • Electrical Equipment in Hazardous areas training (EEHA)– desirable
  • Supervised gas fitter qualification - desirable
  • Experience in power generation, GE LM6000 or Solar Titian 130 Turbines or
  • Experience in power generation, Gas reciprocating engines
  • Experience with all aspects of power station and or processing plant maintenance and fault finding i.e., instrumentation, PLC, ComAp Control system operation
