Our Opportunity
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D 6R FIFO ex Perth
Reporting to the Mining & Operations Planning leadership team, the Mobile Maintenance Principal – Iron Bridge plays a critical governance and technical leadership role across Iron Bridge’s expanding Light Vehicle (LV) and Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) fleet.
This position is responsible for strengthening Fortescue’s oversight of mobile maintenance activities, ensuring contractor compliance with Fortescue minimum standards, and providing strategic direction for the Iron Bridge Fleet Strategy, including electrification and future owner-operated maintenance models. We are seeking a technically strong, commercially astute and safety-driven leader who thrives in complex operational environments and is passionate about driving standards, performance and long-term asset value.
Key Responsibilities
- Owner critical Mobile Maintenance risks at Iron Bridge, including Stored Energy (Tyres) and Loss of Control Vehicles - Design & Specification
- Lead contractor governance of the Mobile Maintenance scope, driving commercial assurance through audit of claims and work orders while maintaining strong field presence to ensure compliance with Fortescue standards and critical risk controls.
- Review reliability performance (MTBF / MTTR) and challenge contractor performance where equipment availability impacts production
- Provide direction and input into the Iron Bridge Fleet Strategy, including asset lifecycle planning, electrification readiness, and long-term maintenance transition planning
- Partner with Decarbonisation and site stakeholders to assess electrified fleet adoption, financial models and maintenance capability requirements
- Act as Fortescue’s Iron Bridge representative for Mobile Maintenance, supporting cross-site standardisation and continuous improvement
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant experience in HME mobile maintenance leadership building workplace cultures that value safety
- Demonstrated contract management and contractor performance oversight experience
- Strong understanding of major hazard risk management and statutory obligations
- Proven ability to analyse reliability data (MTBF, MTTR) and drive performance improvement
- Experience contributing to fleet strategy, asset lifecycle planning or fleet transition programs
- Exposure to electrified fleet or decarbonisation initiatives highly regarded
