Our Opportunity
The Principal C&P Strategy and Engagement is a senior technical advisor to the C&P Senior Leadership Team.
This position suits a seasoned strategic SME who is deeply analytical, commercially astute and comfortable working with an executive level. You will influence senior leaders, shape functional direction and drive alignment across a global portfolio.
You will assist in articulatating the strategic narrative of the C&P function defining how we operate, where we are going and how we create value for the enterprise. You will partner closely with General Managers and senior stakeholders to translate strategy into actionable priorities, measurable outcomes and clear executive communication.
This role suits an individual who thrives in complexity, enjoys working autonomously and brings structured thinking, insight and clarity to fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Functional Planning
- Support development and execution of the Global C&P strategy aligned to enterprise priorities
- Lead priority initiatives and special projects that strengthen capability and performance
- Identify functional risks and opportunities, providing pragmatic, insight-led recommendations
Strategic Insight & Advisory
- Provide high-quality analytical support to improve functional performance and decision-making
- Synthesise complex internal and external data into clear, executive-ready insights
- Challenge legacy thinking and identify opportunities for transformation across processes, systems and governance
- Act as a trusted advisor to the C&P Leadership Team and GM cohort
Executive Strategy & Alignment
- Lead quarterly leadership planning cycles, including agenda design, facilitation support and action planning
- Translate strategic outcomes into prioritised execution roadmaps with clear ownership
- Develop and maintain a structured communication rhythm across the global C&P function
- Support executive-level communications including CEO reports, business plans and board-ready materials
Culture & Change
- Support culture and engagement initiatives aligned to Fortescue values
- Partner with leaders to embed measurable responses to engagement survey outcomes
- Provide structured change management support to enable adoption and sustained impact
Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Significant experience in strategy, transformation, business planning or enterprise enablement within large, complex organisations
- Demonstrated experience operating as a senior advisor to General Manager or executive-level stakeholders
- Strong analytical capability with experience synthesising performance, market and operational data
- Ability to influence without authority across multi-disciplinary teams
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Economics, Strategy or related discipline
Highly Desirable
- Experience within procurement, supply chain, commercial, operations or project environments
- Background in management consulting (strategy, operations or transformation) or enterprise strategy roles
- Exposure to large-scale change or organisational transformation initiatives
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent)
- Formal change management accreditation
