Our Opportunity
Work Location: Solomon. Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi people.
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
The Project Electrical Engineer is the electrical subject matter expert within the Delivery Pillar and is responsible for providing technical leadership and project delivery support across electrical scopes.
The role supports the full project lifecycle, including scoping, planning, execution, construction methodology, materials selection, QA/QC, inspection and test documentation, commissioning and handover. Working closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and contractors, the role ensures electrical works are safe, compliant, constructable and delivered to the required quality and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective SME support across all electrical project scopes within the Delivery Pillar.
- Ensure electrical installations are safe, compliant, and delivered to the required quality standards.
- Improve scope definition and execution planning for electrical works.
- Ensure QA/QC, testing, and commissioning documentation is completed to standard.
- Support smooth project delivery with minimal rework, delays, and operational disruption.
- Deliver maintainable, fit-for-purpose outcomes that support safe and reliable operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical project delivery within mining, heavy industry or a comparable industrial environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of electrical installation, construction support, testing, commissioning and handover.
- Experience supporting brownfield project execution in an operating plant environment.
- Experience developing or reviewing ITPs, QA/QC documentation, and commissioning records.
- Sound understanding of industrial electrical systems, including LV and HV infrastructure, switchgear, MCCs, distribution systems, and field installations.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, standards, datasheets, and technical specifications.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, contractor coordination and problem-solving capability.
