Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth / Pilbara Sites – Fortescue Research & Development Project Lab, Forrestfield, and across our Pilbara operations
Roster: 5:2 / 4:3 on a 50/50 Perth and site arrangement
Fortescue is currently seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to join the FIT Metals Projects Team and support the delivery of technology, communications, power and supporting infrastructure projects across our operations.
This role offers broad exposure across the full project lifecycle, including planning, technical coordination, vendor and stakeholder engagement, construction support, commissioning and handover. Working across both Perth and site environments, the successful candidate will play a key role in enabling the safe, effective and timely delivery of critical technology projects that support operational performance, mine expansion works and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end delivery of technology infrastructure projects.
- Lead assigned work packages and smaller project scopes.
- Coordinate delivery across engineering, procurement, construction and operations.
- Monitor project performance against scope, schedule, cost and risk.
- Manage technical interfaces between internal teams and external delivery partners.
- Develop, Oversee, Review and alignment of project documentation and design deliverables.
- Maintain project reporting, governance and controls information.
- Support stakeholder, contractor and vendor engagement to enable safe and effective delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification in Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical, Project Management or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in technology, telecommunications, power, tower and/or shelter infrastructure projects.
- Experience with Fortescues Operational Technology infrastructure and hardware in mining, resources or heavy industry.
- Experience coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover activities.
- Strong document control skills, including technical drawings, vendor submissions, commissioning and as-built records.
- Proven vendor, contractor, consultant and stakeholder interface experience.
- Working knowledge of schedules, risk registers, reporting, cost tracking and change management.
- Understanding of safe delivery in live operational or brownfield environments.
