Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D/6R ex Perth
Join Iron Bridge’s Operations Planning team as a Project Mine Geologist and help shape one of Australia’s newest, largest and deepest open-pit operations. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you’ll support high-quality mine geology practices that enable safe, efficient and accurate production outcomes. This permanent role offers an 8:6 roster, competitive remuneration and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold Fortescue’s vision, values and statutory obligations.
- Assist with developing and maintaining grade control systems and procedures.
- Support the Senior Mine Geologist to drive continuous improvement across team processes.
- Manage daily mine geology activities to ensure consistency, quality and accuracy.
- Promote strong mining hygiene practices and address daily focus areas.
- Build and maintain a detailed understanding of the orebody.
- Train and mentor Mine Geologists, Graduate Geologists and Geology Technicians.
- Provide coverage during absences and support the Senior Mine Geologist when required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Geology or Geoscience.
- Current WA C-Class manual driver’s licence.
- At least four years’ mining experience, including two years in mine geology.
- Working knowledge of Vulcan, SQL databases and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational, administrative and continuous improvement skills.
- Enthusiastic, adaptable and technically minded, with Magnetite, SharePoint, Power BI or Python experience desirable.
