Roster: 5D2R
This is a fixed term opportunity available until the 1st July, 2027 with the potential to extend.
Fortescue is developing a software application to transform telemetry data management and delay accounting across its business. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery of the application across multiple asset bases and stakeholder groups.
This is an important and evolving initiative. Success will require someone who can work confidently through ambiguity, clarify requirements and risks with stakeholders, and turn emerging needs into a clear, achievable delivery plan.
You will work across technology, operations, maintenance and other business groups to align priorities, manage delivery risks and budget, and maintain momentum from discovery through implementation. Strong communication, sound judgement and the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholder groups will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of the product across multiple asset bases, from discovery and definition through implementation and adoption.
- Communicate the project scope and provide updates to key stakeholder groups as work progresses.
- Work with stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify scope risks and dependencies, prioritise outcomes, and translate business needs into an achievable delivery roadmap.
- Coordinate the design and delivery of software capabilities, including telemetry visualisation, event detection and maintenance shift handover functionality.
- Build and maintain effective relationships across operations, maintenance, technology, engineering and other stakeholder groups.
- Establish governance, milestones, dependencies and decision pathways to support timely delivery.
- Identify, assess and manage delivery risks, issues, dependencies and change impacts, escalating where appropriate.
- Manage the project budget, resourcing and delivery partner inputs to maintain control of cost and schedule.
- Provide clear status reporting, recommendations and decision support to project sponsors and senior leaders.
- Plan and support testing, deployment, training, change management and operational adoption across affected asset bases.
- Promote a strong focus on user experience and sustainable operational outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving technology, operational systems, digital products or business process change.
- Experience delivering projects in mining, heavy industry, asset-intensive operations or a comparable environment is highly regarded.
- Strong capability to work through ambiguity, manage evolving scope and risks with stakeholders, and make practical decisions based on end-user requirements.
- Proven experience working with multiple stakeholder groups and aligning competing priorities across a complex organisation.
- Experience managing project budgets, delivery risks, schedules, dependencies and governance requirements.
- Understanding of software delivery concepts, data products, telemetry, event detection or operational technology is desirable.
- Understanding of time usage models or delay accounting is highly desirable. Experience in a mining fixed plant environment is also beneficial.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Exceptional critical thinking, planning, facilitation, negotiation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess trade-offs and recommend practical solutions.
- A relevant project management qualification or equivalent practical experience is essential.
- A tertiary qualification in engineering or a similar field is desirable.
