Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Decarb Infrastructure Engineering team in Perth. This role will support the effective planning, coordination and delivery of multidisciplinary engineering activities across multiple projects supporting Fortescue’s Real Zero target and the advancement of decarbonisation technologies. Working closely with Engineering Managers, Principal Engineers, Project Management and key stakeholders, you will provide visibility of engineering performance, strengthen governance and change management, and manage assigned engineering and equipment supply packages through the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Engineering Managers and Principal Engineers to develop, maintain and optimise engineering delivery schedules across multiple projects.
- Monitor engineering progress, deliverables, milestones and resource requirements, proactively identifying and escalating risks or constraints impacting delivery.
- Develop and maintain engineering dashboards, progress reports, KPIs and deliverable registers to provide clear visibility of engineering status and performance.
- Facilitate engineering governance and reporting, including progress meetings, action tracking, decision logging and alignment across Engineering, Project Management and key stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain Engineering Change Management processes to ensure changes are effectively assessed, coordinated, communicated and implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support engineering planning, effort estimation, resource forecasting, workload management and continuous improvement of engineering delivery processes.
- Manage assigned engineering and equipment supply packages across scope, schedule, cost, variations, supplier performance and progress reporting.
- Coordinate technical interfaces between Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning teams.
- Coordinate package verification and acceptance activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Ensure supplier deliverables and equipment performance meet contractual and technical requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience delivering engineering projects within infrastructure, industrial, mining, energy or related industries.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and collaborate effectively across engineering, project management and external stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering project planning and scheduling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel and other planning and scheduling tools.
- Experience managing procurement packages.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting platforms is highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational, planning and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate engineering status and risks to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and evolving project requirements within a dynamic project environment.
