As Fortescue’s Energy Operations portfolio continues to grow, the reliability, integrity and assurance of our critical energy assets will be fundamental to delivering safe and sustainable operational performance. The Senior Reliability Engineer will provide technical leadership across Asset Assurance & Integrity and Defect Elimination, strengthening the systems and processes that identify material risks, prioritise improvement opportunities and protect long-term asset performance.

Reporting to the Asset Performance Superintendent, this Perth-based role will work across operations, maintenance, engineering and reliability teams to establish consistent, risk-based ways of working and drive sustainable improvements across the asset lifecycle. With an expanding portfolio encompassing renewable generation, battery storage and high-voltage transmission infrastructure, this is an opportunity to influence how a rapidly evolving energy operation manages asset risk, reliability and performance at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the uplift and implementation of Asset Assurance & Integrity and Defect Elimination processes as part of the Asset Management Improvement Plan.
  • Establish clear governance, accountabilities, standards, workflows and tools to support consistent asset integrity and reliability practices.
  • Embed risk-based prioritisation across asset assurance, integrity and defect elimination activities, ensuring material risks and critical issues receive appropriate focus.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across operations, maintenance, engineering and reliability teams to identify issues, align priorities and drive sustainable resolution.
  • Apply defect elimination, root cause analysis and bad-actor management principles to identify recurring performance issues and support effective corrective actions.
  • Drive adoption and sustainment of improved processes through stakeholder engagement, technical guidance, coaching and effective change management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Asset Management, Reliability Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in reliability, asset integrity, risk, assurance or compliance within the resources, utilities or other asset-intensive industries.
  • Strong knowledge of operational risk management, control effectiveness, criticality assessment and asset management principles.
  • Experience applying root cause analysis and defect elimination methodologies, with RCA, Apollo or equivalent training highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement standards, workflows and improvement processes while facilitating outcomes across multidisciplinary operational teams.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing and stakeholder engagement capability; experience with power generation, battery storage or high-voltage networks is highly regarded.
