We are seeking a Senior Water and Wastewater Engineer to join our Engineering and Projects team. Based in Fortescue’s Perth office, this role will provide technical expertise and assurance across water treatment, desalination, wastewater treatment, water systems management and conveyance infrastructure.

 

 

Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will analyse water quantity and quality data, develop practical engineering solutions and support projects from studies and design through to procurement and delivery. You will also prepare high-quality technical documentation and contribute to regulatory compliance, environmental assessments and water management programs.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Collect and analyse water quantity and quality data to support technical studies and site investigations
  • Provide technical advice on water treatment, wastewater handling, treatment and disposal requirements
  • Complete risk assessments for water and wastewater management, including related natural hazards
  • Review water monitoring, laboratory and resource assessment data, including water quality and supply studies
  • Develop designs for water treatment, desalination and wastewater treatment plants
  • Prepare construction plans, technical specifications, cost estimates and material quantity calculations
  • Assess treatment options and contribute to the design of water treatment processes and wastewater management systems
  • Engage with construction engineers, consultants, contractors, vendors and suppliers to support project delivery
  • Prepare clear, accurate technical reports that summarise completed work and recommendations
  • Monitor developments in water and wastewater technology and promote innovation in project design and procurement.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental or civil engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer status or eligibility to apply
  • At least eight years’ experience in a similar water or wastewater engineering role
  • Experience in the mining industry, water utilities or other complex operating environments
  • Detailed knowledge of chemical water treatment, desalination and wastewater treatment design
  • Demonstrated experience in water quality management, assessment and processing
  • Experience with mass balances, reverse osmosis projections, equipment selection and sizing, water system planning and infrastructure design
  • Demonstrated ability to manage interdisciplinary project teams and provide strong technical leadership
  • Strong data management, analytical, computer literacy, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and travel for short periods as required.
